Our Story

Family owned and operated, Sunny Bay Cafe is a creative and cozy food endeavor inspired from the mind of Laurie Orfanidis. Born in Maryland, Laurie started in her first restaurant job in her teens, and she never looked back. Over the last 40 years, she has played roles in owning and operating restaurants all over Baltimore and Bel Air, Maryland.

In 2021, she decided to fulfill the lifelong dream of living at the Beach, and after a childhood of spending summers in Ocean City she picked up her life (and her husband Nick) and committed to the move to the Bay.

Since that day, she has spent every drop of energy to bring her creative takes on home cooking to the shore, with dishes inspired not only by the Chesapeake’s ingredients, but also the every changing tapestry of cuisine trends, her mission is simple.
