Our Story

Family owned and operated, Sunny Bay Cafe is a creative and cozy food endeavor inspired from the mind of Laurie Orfanidis. Born in Maryland, Laurie started in her first restaurant job in her teens, and she never looked back. Over the last 40 years, she has played roles in owning and operating restaurants all over Baltimore and Bel Air, Maryland.

In 2021, she decided to fulfill the lifelong dream of living at the Beach, and after a childhood of spending summers in Ocean City she picked up her life (and her husband Nick) and committed to the move to the Bay.

Since that day, she has spent every drop of energy to bring her creative takes on home cooking to the shore, with dishes inspired not only by the Chesapeake’s ingredients, but also the every changing tapestry of cuisine trends, her mission is simple. Bring good food, to good people, with a smile. If that’s something you can get behind, you’ll find yourself at home with us.

FAQs

  • We absolutely do. In fact we serve our whole menu from open to close every day! If you want a Cheesesteak Sub with a side of French Toast, we’d be happy to make that for you.

  • We do serve alcohol, from our full service bar. This includes a full menu of mimosas, bloody marys, crushes, cocktails, beer and wine. Note: We by policy do not serve vertical IDs, so if this applies to you please have another proof of age like a passport. Thank you for understanding.

  • We do not unfortunately. We do our best to stay on the cutting edge of food service, but with such a robust menu we have decided to simplify to sticking to good old fashion Regular and Decaf Drip coffee. We do also serve iced coffee!

  • We do! All of our breads for sandwiches can be made gluten free, as well as our french toast. Additionally there are a ton of options and work arounds for helping deliver our other dishes gluten free.

    Additionally we have a vast amount of choices for vegetarians spanning from salads, omelets and crepes.

  • We will take reservations for parties of 15 or more, a week in advance. Please call our main line to inquire. Beyond that we are first come first serve.

  • We allow dogs, on leashes to dine with us on our patio area weather permitting. We do not allow pets inside of the restaurant. (This does not include service animals, they are welcome indoors)
